Cooperating Computer Services has been a Polaris customer since 2018. CCS has a collection of over 5.6 million volumes and circulates over 11.7 million items annually.
CCS is a consortium of public libraries in the north and northwest suburbs of Chicago headquartered in Lincolnshire, Illinois and serves 29 member libraries.
CCS libraries benefit tremendously from a shared automation system – particularly in regards to resource sharing. Autonomy is also very important to the member libraries as well. This balance of attributes is very evident when you visit the Polaris PowerPAC pages for each library. Member libraries do a certain level of customization on their own while CCS consortium staff are quick to provide consulting and administration services.
