Black Gold Cooperative Library System has been a Polaris customer since 2008. BGCLS has a collection of over 1 million volumes and circulates almost 4 million items annually.
BGCLS serves the central coast region of Southern California and is headquartered in San Luis Obispo.
The Consortium is comprised of seven public libraries (30 total locations) including:
- Paso Robles Public Library
- San Luis Obispo City/County Library
- Santa Maria Public Library
- Lompoc Public Library
- Santa Barbara Public Library
- Blanchard Community Library, Santa Paula
Black Gold has done some nice basic work with their PowerPAC and added a few interesting touches including: a custom banner, local content on their initial page, images in their dashboards and a custom menu option for digital downloads.
While the member libraries maintain their individual websites, the consortium uses PowerPAC as their sole web presence. Where there’s a need for a page of local content (e.g., a page with Book Recommendations) , Black Gold has added custom pages within the PowerPAC framework and linked them to a “Main Menu” in the side dashboard area.
